Nau mai, haere mai. Meet Cheryl, the wahine behind Native Florist

Ko tēnei mahi he mahi aroha. Flowers are my way of helping people send their love, whether it’s to comfort during a time of loss, to celebrate a milestone, or just to show someone they’re thinking of them. No matter the occasion, every arrangement I make carries intention, meaning, and care. For me, flowers are never “just” flowers. They’re little messengers of love!

Guided by te ao Māori and the rhythm of the seasons

I’ve been working with flowers since 2000 and with Native Florist, I’m creating something special for my whānau. My husband and our youngest son work alongside me, delivering flowers and helping with day-to-day mahi.

Our adult children help during our busy times, and even our mokopuna drop in to hang out after school and during holidays. It can be full-on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m passionate about bringing te ao Māori into everything I do, from native foliage and raranga to the wairua behind each arrangement. I love using nature to tell a story and I value nature’s healing power. Every Native Florist flower arrangement reflects that natural, grounded style, plus a whole lot of aroha.
